"Tell your friends, tell your family. Gotta Dance is a must see movie!"
By Alexa Jordan
Gotta Dance is a truly amazing documentary. When my mom asked me to go, I was excited because the concept is like nothing I've ever heard of before. I mean really, senior citzen hip hop dancers is not a phrase i hear everyday! But after seeing these touching, heartfelt, real life documentary I don't want to call them senior citzen's anymore because they feel so young! and portray and totally portray that on the screen. They inspired me to dance more, its an amazing movie for all ages. Tell your friends, tell your family. Gotta Dance is a must see movie.
"A MUST SEE for all ages and both sexes!!!"

This film is so uplifting!! I don't think anyone who left the theatre that night couldn't help but feel so inspired. We met the entire dance team that night and they are truly unique individuals. It shows the team as they are just everyday people who love to dance and enjoy a challenge.A MUST SEE for all ages and both sexes!!!!
"One of my most enjoyable movie experiences ever!"
By Peggy Gagliano
I saw this movie in Montclair , NJ on Sat. 8/8/09 and boy did I enjoy it! This is a MUST-SEE for anyone who enjoys dance, ever wanted to dance, or who just wants to see what is possible when you're not 21 yrs. old anymore! AN ABSOLUTE TREAT! Put this movie on your must-see list and bring family and friends. You will definitely NOT be disappointed. I also enjoyed the meet and greet after the film. I never actually met a real movie star in person and now I can say that I have. This was one of my most enjoyable movie experiences ever. The Nets organization should get a prize for coming up with the idea to form this senior dance group. Kudos to the Nets dancers who worked with and trained the seniors. The movie showed them having a lot of patience with their students as well as enjoying their unique personalities. Thanks to Dori for getting this group/movie the attention it deserves!

Grandmothers dancing hip-hop? Fun, fun, fun!! A group of seniors age 60 and above - 12 women and 1 man - were recruited by the New Jersey Nets to form a new dance team. Director Dori Berinstein brings us through their journey of hard training, warm camaraderie, national fame, and audience adoration in this heartfelt and inspiring documentary.
"An excellent, fun story!"

First up was a great, fun documentary, Gotta Dance. In 2007 (I think?), the New Jersey Nets put out a call for dancers for a new halftime show called "The Netsationals". The catch--the minimum age limit was 60 years. That's right, bring the grandparents out and teach them to dance hip hop.

"This was a great documentary - both great fun and often touching as well!"
Gotta Dance is a documentary about an experiment the New Jersey Nets (that’s an NBA basketball team) did by forming a hip hop dance team out of senior citizens, with a minimum age of 60. The film shows the initial tryouts, various practices, and some of their actual performances. But even better, it shows the team members and their families in their normal lives, and you get a picture of how the experience is challenging them and changing them.
